Northern Expo Showcase Still 11.png

Northern Expo x SXSW Online 2021

Even though traveling from Norway to the US was next to impossible at the start of 2021, we still managed to vist Austin and SXSW this year. For the first time ever Northern Expo was present at SXSW, and our SXSW Online 2021 is a live music performance that showcases four acts in different outdoor locations in the vibrant city of Tromsø - ending in a spectacular scenery. Enjoy the ride here:

There have been dozens of impressive performances at SXSW this year, but none presented music in as stunning a fashion as today’s work from Northern Norway.
— Austin Chronicle
I’m telling you, Norway blew me away. This is the best way I’ve ever seen to do a showcase
— KRCL
The results are astonishing—a singular experience that highlights the variety of Northern Norway’s music scene while also delivering an engaging visual experience you’d be hard-pressed to top

Artists

These are the fabulous four you’ll meet in the Northern Expo x SXSW Online experience.

I See Rivers

I See Rivers encapsulate audiences with their distinctive sound and renowned harmonies. The multi-instrumentalist Scandi ‘float-pop’ trio are renowned for encapsulating audiences with their interweaving harmonies and distinctive Nordic sound.

Ozas

Ozas means "In the front pocket", the chest pocket in the traditional sámi clothing, a room where you place your most precious and dearest belongings. Ozas mixes traditional sámi joik and modern music with film, installations and artistic expressions.

Oter

Oter is Norway's best kept hip hop secret. Chronically avoiding mainstream attention and radio play, perhaps due to his blatant lyricism or a non-compromising attitude, his poetic and technical qualities are undisputed.

Heave Blood & Die

From Tromsø to Øyafestivalen, to Roskilde Festival, moving to Oslo and now with new label Fysisk Format onboard, Heave Blood & Die is ready to follow up their 2018 effort “Vol. II”, with “Post People”. A mournful panoramic rock piece that brings to mind the inward explosions of The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins and Killing Joke.
